Laura Moore Writing as L. S. Moore

Bio

L. S. Moore’s debut YA novel, BridgeKeeper, features three of her favorite things to write about: ghosts, guys, and graveyards! She is a longtime member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and honed her craft attending workshops, conferences and critique groups all over the country. Except for brief stints in Italy and Chicago, she’s lived in the Kansas City area all her life. She studied theater at the University of Missouri and tried her hand at acting in the Windy City until her passion for storytelling found a home in writing. Working for a public library for fifteen years was the best job she ever had. Inspired by her two sons, Moore’s fiction often features ordinary boys doing heroic things, and the savvy girls they hang out with. When she’s not writing, she indulges her other obsessions with cemeteries, travel, and organic gardening.

The Plot in a Nutshell

On a night when the veil between the living and the dead is as thin as a soap bubble, Will McCurty discovers his dark destiny.

An ability passes to the firstborn in his family. Will’s older brother will become a medium, a Bridge across the veil between the living and the dead.

To survive, every Bridge needs a Keeper, someone to control the spirits that possess him, figure out why they’ve come, and help right their wrongs.

Becoming a Keeper means Will must harbor secrets, lie to friends, and break his mother’s heart.

It’s that or abandon his brother to the desperate dead.

Reviews

Moore relates the story with an assured blend of narrative prose, introspection, and teen-appropriate dialogue. . . A fast-moving paranormal adventure for teens with heavy themes and an upbeat delivery.” Kirkus Reviews Full review Also included in Kirkus Reviews Magazine, August 15th 2023 edition, p222
